30-11-2009 13/365 Traffic jam

I will show you a part of my daily monday morning routine. I leave at 6:00 a.m. from Emmen to Bergen op Zoom.  A drive of 285 km by car where you can encounter lots of challenges like crashes, rain, trucks capsized or cars breakdown. No garanties! However, there is one stable factor on my route, a traffic jam that never let’s me down: the junction Hoevelaken!

As you can see on the sign on the right of the picture, the Province of Utrecht gives you a warm welcome. Well I can tell you, it does not feel that way if you drive at a footpace for half an hour to pass this junction.

This morning I arrived 10:10 a.m. and the first thing I did at the office was getting a cop of coffee.

Thursday evening I will have similar challenges the way back. But I can rely on junction Hoevelaken …

After a day full of rain the sun managed to break trough for a small moment. But not for long! As it hurries to sink in the sea large dark clouds are coming to get it.

I shot this picture from the window on my attic @Emmen. Love the composition and the threatening of the clouds.

Still a lot of grapes in my garden. Strange that the birds haven’t eaten them yet. It’s almost December! And they taste lovely and sweet.

I shot the picture after a little shower.

I love the enormous transports, also known as Convoi Exceptionnel. I spotted this part of a windmill on a parking place on the A58 from Breda to Bergen op Zoom. The driver of the escorting car was sleeping in his vehicle.

Just in time to post this picture of the ‘Waterstaatskerk Sint-Jan de Doper’ in Roosendaal.
I had dinner with two twitterfriends at ‘De Belofte’ a great restaurant. It was the church or my deer steak.
I chose for culture.

This morning I opened the curtains of my hotel room. The windmill ‘De Hoop’ was surrounded with a beautiful sky. I didn’t see a blue sky for the rest of the day but this view was a nice present to start the day!

This is my desk when I work @home office.

Could be worse, not?

I work on a ICT project in the southwest of the Netherlands and I live in the Northeast. That’s 285 km driving by car. With the normal traffic jams, that takes me at least 4 hours.
Normally I stay in a hotel for four nights and leave home Sunday evening to avoid the traffic jams in the morning. Sometimes I don’t feel like leaving in the afternoon and decide to depart early in the morning.

This morning at 6:00 am is was very busy on the road so I decided to work @home. Not a bad place to work, don’t you think?

Tonight I pass the departure gate @home and take the ride to Breda where my hotel is. Hopefully at the end of the year I have a project closer to home.

22-11-2009 5/365 Saar

This is a picture of our dog Saar running to me while I’m laying on the ground in the wood near our house in Emmen.

She is a Shih Tzu, a bright dog, listens very good to my commands. She wants to learn and is always in a good mood.
One look at her face and you’ll see this is a happy dog!

She’s my favourite dog to be honest.
I will post a picture of our other dog another time.

Sculpture of Pieter Starreveld “Teenager” (1963) in center of Emmen. Would like that to be in my garden.

In the background you see restaurant “De Kamer”. Me and my wife had lunch on the terrace. Wonderful afternoon!
